Snippets

Snippets let you insert reusable text blocks instantly with / commands. They make your documentation faster and more consistent.

Why Snippets Matter

Snippets are reusable text shortcuts for phrases, exam findings, plans, counselling language, and other text you use repeatedly.

They work in two places:

  • The Snippets page — where you create, search, edit, and browse reusable snippets.

  • The editor and chat composer — where typing / opens your snippet picker so you can insert saved text while writing.

Open Snippets from the left sidebar to manage your saved snippets.

Browsing Snippets

The Snippets page has two main views:

  • My Snippets — snippets you created or copied into your own library.

  • Public — public snippets shared for reuse when available.

Use the search bar to quickly find snippets by shorthand, description, or content.

Creating a Snippet

  1. Open Snippets from the left sidebar.

  2. Click Create or Create Snippet.

  3. Add a short shorthand trigger, the snippet content, and an optional description.

  4. Save the snippet.

Example shorthand: /pna

Example content: Community-acquired pneumonia. Vitals stable. Oxygenation adequate on room air. Patient prescribed antibiotics.

Using Snippets While Writing

When typing in a note editor, enter / to open the snippet picker. Choose a snippet from the dropdown and Vero inserts the saved text instantly.

You can use snippets for:

  • Physical exam findings — normal exam blocks, focused specialty exams, procedure documentation.

  • Counselling phrases — lifestyle, diet, smoking cessation, medication counselling.

  • Plans — discharge, follow-up, referrals, return precautions.

  • Administrative text — signatures, standard clinic instructions, repeated wording.

Using Snippets in Chat

You can also use snippets in Vero Chat. When typing a message in the chat composer, enter / to open the same snippet picker, then select the snippet you want to insert.

This is useful when you repeatedly ask Vero for the same kind of help, such as:

  • Patient instructions — asking Vero to rewrite a plan in plain language for a patient handout.

  • Referral letters — inserting your usual referral request wording before adding encounter-specific details.

  • Evidence questions — reusing a standard question format for guideline, medication, or differential diagnosis lookups.

  • Admin messages — drafting standard clinic communications, forms, or follow-up instructions.
