Rich Text Formatting

Control how your notes look, not just what they say.

Rich text formatting lets you style template text so generated notes keep the same visual emphasis.

Use it for section headings, fixed text, signature blocks, and selected fill-in fields that should appear bold, italic, or underlined in the final note.

How to Format Text

Open a template, select the text you want to format, then use the formatting controls in the editor or standard keyboard shortcuts.

Format

Windows/Linux

Mac

Bold

Ctrl + B

Cmd + B

Italic

Ctrl + I

Cmd + I

Underline

Ctrl + U

Cmd + U

You can combine styles on the same text, such as bold plus underline.

Formatting Static Text

Apply formatting directly to any text that should appear the same way every time.

Common uses:

  • Section headings - SOAP headers, letter headings, or required form sections.

  • Signature blocks - sign-offs, clinician names, or fixed footer text.

  • Warnings or required actions - information that should stand out in the generated note.

Formatting Fill-In Fields

You can format [square bracket] fields. Vero applies the styling to the content it fills into that field.

[Patient instructions]

Best Practices

  • Use formatting sparingly. Too much styling makes important content harder to scan.

  • Prioritize headings and actions. Formatting is most useful for section titles, critical diagnoses, medication changes, warnings, and follow-up instructions.

  • Keep clinical facts in fields. Formatting a field is fine, but the variable patient-specific content should still live inside [square brackets].

  • Test the template. Generate a sample note and confirm the formatting looks right after Vero fills the content.

Troubleshooting

Formatting Was Lost When Pasting

Some destinations only accept plain text. If formatting is lost after copying out of Vero, try an export option that preserves formatting, such as Word or PDF, when available.

Only Part of the Generated Content Is Formatted

Check whether the full field is selected in the template. If only part of a [square bracket] field is formatted, only that part may inherit the style.

Formatting Does Not Match the Intended Clinical Meaning

Use a clearer rule beside the field, such as [Medication changes] (Bold medication names only, not doses.).
