Use this guide for microphone and connection problems when using Vero in a browser. For the installed computer app’s microphone and system-audio permissions, see Desktop App.
If recording or processing is unfinished, pause if possible and keep Vero open. Contact Support before refreshing or clearing data to recover unfinished work.
Which browsers does Vero support?
Vero works best on current versions of Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Safari, and Firefox. If dictation behaves strangely, trying Chrome is a useful test.
On iPad? Use Safari and make sure Safari has microphone access in Settings → Safari → Microphone.
Vero is asking for microphone access
The first time you start dictation, your browser prompts for microphone permission. Click Allow. Vero does not record before you grant permission and does not listen in the background.
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc
Click the lock icon or site settings icon in the address bar.
Find Microphone and set it to Allow.
Refresh Vero and start dictation again.
Safari
Open Safari → Settings → Websites → Microphone.
Find Vero and set it to Allow.
Refresh the page.
Firefox
Click the lock icon in the address bar.
Clear or reset the microphone permission.
Refresh and allow access when prompted.
Choosing which microphone to use
In the recording bar at the bottom of the encounter, click the waveform/settings control on the left side.
Choose your mic from the Microphone dropdown.
Vero remembers your choice on this browser.
Mic selection is locked while a recording is active. Change it before you click Record.
You do not need to buy a separate microphone for standard in-person recording. Built-in laptop and computer microphones usually work well. An external USB microphone can help in a noisy room or large exam room, but a headset is mainly useful for Telehealth Mode or when speaker audio is causing echo.
Hearing echo or feedback
Are speakers on? Lower or mute your output. For telehealth visits, headphones or a headset can help prevent call audio from feeding back into the microphone.
Multiple tabs open? Close duplicate Vero tabs and retry.
Conference-room setup? Use the microphone closest to the speaker and reduce room echo where possible.
Vero says no audio was detected
During encounter recording, this warning means the microphone may not be receiving usable sound. It does not mean that Vero automatically stopped the encounter after two minutes.
Confirm recording is active and the correct microphone is selected.
Check hardware and operating-system mute controls.
Speak near the microphone and check the waveform and transcript.
For missing patient call audio, follow the browser or desktop instructions in Recording.
Transcription is inaccurate
Make sure the correct microphone is selected.
Move closer to the microphone if the room is large or noisy.
Reduce room noise when possible.
Set the right voice language in the recording settings panel.
Add recurring mis-hearings to Settings → Text replacements.
Dictation error — connection error
This can happen when Vero loses its connection to the transcription service.
Check Wi-Fi or switch to a stronger connection.
Ask IT to allow WebSocket traffic to Vero if you are on a hospital or corporate network.
If your organization permits it, briefly disconnect a VPN to test whether it affects the connection.
When to contact Vero support
Contact Vero Support if an error repeats after one retry, a recording segment could not be saved or transcribed, or you see an internal or audio-processor error.
Include the exact error message, approximate recording time, browser or app version, device, and whether you were using a VPN or hospital network.
Do not clear encounters or account data to troubleshoot recording or transcription problems.
