Desktop App

Install Vero on your computer, record microphone and call audio, manage updates, and troubleshoot desktop app issues.

Use Vero in a dedicated app on your Mac or Windows computer. Sign in to your existing Vero workspace to record encounters, create and edit notes, and work with your patients, templates, and chats.

For virtual visits, the desktop app can capture your microphone and the audio playing on your computer together, so both sides of the conversation can be transcribed.

Get started

Choose your download

Visit Download Vero for desktop and choose the version for your computer:

  • Mac with Apple silicon: An Apple M1 chip or newer, running macOS 14.2 or later.

  • Mac with Intel: An Intel processor, running macOS 14.2 or later.

  • Windows: Windows 10 or 11 with a 64-bit Intel or AMD processor.

To check your Mac, open Apple menu → About This Mac. Choose Apple silicon if the Chip name begins with Apple M, or Intel if it lists an Intel Processor.

Install Vero

  • Mac: Open the downloaded .dmg file, copy Vero to your Applications folder, then open Vero from Applications.

  • Windows: Open the downloaded Setup.exe file to install Vero, then open the app.

Use the same account and sign-in method you use for Vero in your browser. Your existing workspace is available in the desktop app.

If you choose Google, Apple, or Microsoft sign-in, Vero opens your default browser. Complete sign-in there and allow the browser to open Vero when prompted.

Record an encounter

Microphone and computer audio

When you select Record, Vero starts microphone and computer-audio capture together. This works with audio playing from a browser or another desktop app. You do not need to enable the browser's Telehealth Mode or choose a screen-sharing source.

Computer audio is not limited to one call or app. Close or mute unrelated audio before recording. For an in-person encounter, keep other computer audio quiet and use a microphone that can clearly pick up everyone speaking.

Start, pause, and create your note

Obtain patient consent before recording, following your organization's policies. Vero provides patient consent forms.

  1. Open or create an encounter and choose your note template.

  2. Open Audio settings from the recording bar and select the microphone you want to use. Connect any headset or external microphone before starting.

  3. Select Record. Allow microphone access and, on macOS, system-audio access when prompted. Confirm that recording has started.

  4. Check the transcript to confirm the conversation is being captured. For a virtual visit, check that both speakers appear.

  5. Select the pause icon when you want to stop capturing audio. Select Resume to continue in the same encounter.

  6. When finished, pause and let the remaining transcription process. Select Create, then review and correct the generated note before copying or exporting it.

Keep Vero open until recording and processing are finished. Closing or quitting during a recording can discard audio that has not finished uploading; pause in Vero first.

Keep Vero up to date

The desktop app checks for updates automatically and downloads them in the background. When an update is ready:

  1. Finish or pause your recording.

  2. In the Update ready notification, select Restart to update.

  3. Let Vero restart to finish installing the update.

Vero does not force a restart. If a recording is active, it asks you to pause before updating. You can dismiss the notification and update later.

Troubleshooting

Vero cannot access my microphone

Check that your microphone is connected, unmuted, and selected in Audio settings. If Vero shows Missing microphone access, select Open Microphone Settings:

  • Mac: Enable microphone access for Vero, then quit and reopen the app before trying again.

  • Windows: Turn on Microphone access and Let desktop apps access your microphone, then return to Vero and try again.

Vero says “System Audio Not Recording”

This warning means computer audio may be missing or incomplete, even though microphone recording can continue. Do not assume the patient's call audio is included.

On Mac: If access was denied, finish the recording, select Open System Audio Settings, and enable Vero in Screen & System Audio Recording. Quit and reopen Vero, then check a new recording.

On Windows: Pause the recording and check the output device used by your call. On Windows 10, use the computer's default audio output for the call and pause and resume recording after changing that output. No virtual audio driver is required.

The app cannot connect

Check your internet connection and select Retry if Vero shows a connection error. You can also check whether Vero in your browser loads.

If a recording is unfinished, keep the encounter available and contact support before uninstalling the app or clearing data.

I still need help

Email [email protected] with your operating system, app version if available, the exact message shown, and what you were doing. For audio issues, include the microphone and call app you used. Avoid unnecessary patient information in screenshots or email.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use the desktop app offline?

An internet connection is required to load your workspace, sign in, process transcription, and generate notes. Do not rely on the desktop app as an offline recording backup.

Does computer-audio capture record my screen?

No. The desktop app's built-in system-audio capture collects audio, not screen images. macOS groups the permission under Screen & System Audio Recording.

Can I keep using Vero in my browser or on my phone?

Yes. The desktop app uses the same Vero account. Use the same account on each device to access your workspace, and finish the current recording before switching devices.

Is there a Windows ARM version?

The current Windows download is for x64 computers with Intel or AMD processors. A native Windows ARM installer is not currently available.
